Alberta Indoor Champs

Hello Coaches: The ARA has set the date for it's annual erg championships. The event will be hosted by the Central Alberta Boat Club on March 8, 2008 at the Collicutt Centre in Red Deer.

Like last year, prize money* will be given to athletes who meet or exceed the ARA's gold, silver or bronze erg standard. Athletes who break the gold standard will be given $500. $250 will be given to those who break the silver standard and $100 will be given to those who break the bronze standard. The erg standards can be found on the ARA website.

Unlike last year, the ARA will also award $50 for the winning Novice U20 (as of December 31, 2008) and Senior Novice erg time (men and woman). Athletes who started rowing after September 1, 2007 will compete against one another with the top time in each category earning $50. To register for this event download and complete the entry form found on the ARA web-site.

To receive a t-shirt, entries along with the $20 entry fee must be received by an ARA representative no later than February 15, 2008. Athletes who submit their entry after Feb 15, 2008 will not be eligible to receive a t-shirt. This event is open to all athletes across Alberta. We look forward to seeing you in Red Deer!

* The money provided by the ARA can only be used to offset an athletes costs in attending the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. Upon receiving confirmation that an athlete is attending Henley, the ARA will forward a cheque onto that particular athlete.

See the link for directions. Come off highway QE2 onto 2A going north into Red Deer, instead of taking the bend to the West on QE2. Best stay in RH lane when you reach Gasoline Alley on QE2. At first set of traffic lights, turn right onto H595 which goes past the Westerner Park. Then turn north onto 30Ave. There is a recently built church on the corner. The turning into the Collicut Centre on the RH side is just before the red lights on 32 Street/30 Ave.
