CRC Rec Program

The CRC Recreational Rowing Program is for most, the first destination when joining the club. If you have recently graduated from a Learn to Row course you will most definitely join us here. What is "Rec" Rowing? As the name suggests, it is being out there for fun and enjoyment. The mood is light and casual. It is essentially a "drop-in" program, come if you wish, stay home if you don't. While the focus is on fitness and fun, that doesn't preclude the possibility of racing. Rec members can enter the occasional regatta, especially in the fall where crews can be assembled to make the trek to Victoria to compete in races there at the end of October.

Most Rec rowing is "sculling" (2 oars each), in contrast to "sweep" rowing which you have likely learned in your learn to row. Fear not, if you don't know how to scull we will teach you on your arrival at Rec Rowing!

Cost: CRC membership is pro-rated from the May 1st season start. If joining following a Learn to Row course, you will receive a $100.00 discount. So for someone entering following a May course, the membership fees would be approximately $460 (full membership pro-rated, less your $100 discount). That entitles you to access our training facilities until May 1st 2009. There are no other costs, unless one wishes to compete. In that case all travel costs are borne by athletes.
