2009 Canada Summer Games

The Canada Summer Games is a multi sport event held every four years involving Canada's up and coming amateur athletes.  In 2009 for the first time in the history of the Canada Summer Games an entire province, PEI, will host  this nation wide event.  All previous events had been hosted by a municipality.

The rowing portion of the Canada Summer Games will be fiercely competed along the banks of the Southwest River, a short commute from Summerland.  The rowing competition is slated to take place from August 17 through to August 21, 2009.

Recognizing the importance of this event, the ARA is actively recruiting athletes all across the province.  We are seeking athletes (men and woman alike) who are currently under the age of 20 (as of December 31, 2008) and who have a proven sport background.  If you or anyone you know is interested  in competing in the sport of rowing  at the Canada Summer Games  in 2009 please contact the Alberta Rowing Association office at rowingalberta@can.rogers.com.

The Selection Process can be found here.

Please note that previous rowing experience is not a requirement to try-out.

Those Athletes who are currently members of the ARA and who wish to compete in PEI will be expected to meet or exceed at minimum the ARA's bronze erg standard by May of 2009.   For those unaware as to the current erg standard please review them on the ARA website.
